DocsAutomator vs. DocuSign

Last Update: October 7, 2026

DocuSign starts when a document already exists.

DocsAutomator creates the document and gets it signed in the same step.

DocsAutomator creates the document from your data (Airtable, Notion, Google Sheets, SmartSuite, ClickUp, Glide or the API) or from your AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT and others through MCP). It sends the document for signing or acceptance in the same step. The sealed PDF, the certificate and the status go back to your record where the data source supports it. E-signing and acceptance are included in every plan at no extra cost, with unlimited team members.

One step instead of two tools

Created from your data

Your record in Airtable, Notion, Google Sheets, SmartSuite, ClickUp or Glide fills the template, and the document goes out for signing at once. There is no export, no upload and no copying of recipients.

Created by your AI agent

Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents connect through MCP. The agent creates the document from your template and sends it for signing or acceptance in the same request.

The result goes back to the record

The sealed PDF, the certificate and the status are written back to the record where the data source supports it, so the invoice, the onboarding or the next task can start on its own.

Signing or one-click acceptance

Use signing when the other side expects to sign. Use one-click acceptance when a yes is enough, for example on a quote or an offer. Both keep an audit trail and a certificate.

If your data is in Airtable

DocsAutomator creates the document from the Airtable record, gets it signed or accepted, and puts the sealed PDF back on the record.

1. Start from the record

A button, a status change or an Airtable automation starts DocsAutomator. The record fills your Google Docs, Word or PDF template, including line items from linked records.

2. Signers come from fields

The names and email addresses of the signers come from fields on the record, so nobody copies them by hand. You set the signing order and the reminders once in the automation.

3. The sealed PDF goes back to the record

When the last person signs, the sealed PDF with its certificate lands in an attachment field on the record. Values the signers enter can go back into fields, so the next Airtable automation can start on its own.

Use it for quotes, proposals, contracts, leases and work orders. When a quote only needs a yes, send it for one-click acceptance instead of signing. E-signing and acceptance are included in every plan. See pricing for the details.

Side by side

Where the document comes from
DocsAutomator: DocsAutomator creates it from a Google Docs, Word or PDF template, filled from your record in Airtable, Notion, Google Sheets, SmartSuite, ClickUp or Glide, from the API, or from your AI agent through MCP.
DocuSign: You upload a document or start from a reusable template in DocuSign, then add recipients and fields before you send.
After signing
DocsAutomator: The sealed PDF and its certificate go back to your record where the data source supports it: an Airtable attachment field, a SmartSuite File field, a Notion Files property, a ClickUp task, or a link in a Google Sheets column. Other tools receive it through a webhook, so the next step can start automatically.
DocuSign: Completed documents are stored in your DocuSign account.
How you pay
DocsAutomator: Per plan, with a monthly number of documents. E-signing and acceptance are included in every plan at no extra cost.
DocuSign: Per user: $30 per user per month on Standard and $45 on Business Pro, on annual plans.
Team members
DocsAutomator: Unlimited on every plan.
DocuSign: Each user is a paid seat, up to 50 users. Enhanced plans for more than 50 users have custom pricing.
Sending allowance
DocsAutomator: No envelope allowance. A signed or accepted document counts as one document in your plan.
DocuSign: 100 envelopes per user per year on Standard and Business Pro.
Ways to agree
DocsAutomator: Legally binding e-signatures with a sealed, tamper-evident PDF, or one-click acceptance for quotes and offers. Both come with an audit trail and a certificate.
DocuSign: E-signatures with a real-time audit trail.

Moving from another signing tool?

Whether you use DocuSign or another tool: our founder moves your templates, signers and flows over with you personally, at no extra cost.

Templates

Your DocuSign templates become Google Docs or Word files with placeholders. Signature, date and text fields become tags in the template, so anyone on your team can edit the wording.

Signers

Signer roles become signers whose names and email addresses come from your record, or are fixed in the automation.

Flows

Signing order, reminders, expiry, completion emails and where the signed PDF goes are set once in the automation.

How the move works

  1. Book a 20-minute call with our founder and walk through the documents you send today.
  2. Send the templates you want to move, as Word or PDF files.
  3. Our founder rebuilds the first templates with you and connects your data source.
  4. You test in test mode for free until every document looks right, then you switch it on.
