Get work signed from Glide apps

Work orders, job sign-offs and estimates go out from your Glide app for signature or one-click acceptance. The signed PDF link comes back to the job through your own Glide workflow.

Why field teams sign from Glide with DocsAutomator

From a tap in the app to a sealed PDF in your folder

Signed on site, on any phone

The customer signs from an email, with no account and nothing to install.

The signer comes from your app

The customer's email is one of the values your Glide action sends.

The signed PDF goes where you work

Webhook, Google Drive, Dropbox, the completion email and the Documents page.

How to get documents signed from a Glide app

Set it up once. Every tap on the button creates the document, sends it for signing and delivers the sealed PDF.

  1. 1

Add a signature tag to your template

Use a Google Docs or Word template for the work order. Type {{esign.signature_1}} where the customer signs and {{esign.date_1}} where the date goes.

  2. 2

    Create the automation

In DocsAutomator, create an automation with Glide as the source. Copy its automation ID and your API key for the Glide action.

  3. 3

    Choose who signs

Turn on Signing. Take the customer's email from a template placeholder that your app fills, such as {{customer_email}}, or set a fixed address.

  4. 4

Send the signed PDF back to Glide

Build a Glide workflow with a Webhook Trigger and paste its URL as the automation's webhook. Drive, Dropbox and the completion email can run as well.

  5. 5

Start it from your Glide app

Add the DocsAutomator action to a Glide workflow, for example on a Get sign-off button. Map the job's columns, the email and the row ID included.

  6. 6

The customer signs on the spot

The customer gets an email, opens it on a phone and signs without an account. The sealed PDF with its certificate goes where you chose.

Estimates accepted with one click

For an estimate or a quote, a yes is enough.

What your customer sees on a phone. An example estimate with fictional data.

Choose Acceptance instead of Signing. Your customer opens the estimate from the email and clicks Accept.

  • Nothing to draw and no account to create
  • They can type their name, or decline with a reason
  • The sealed PDF arrives with a Certificate of Acceptance

Where the signed PDF goes

Back to the job through your Glide workflow, and to every other place you turn on.

Back on the record, through your own workflow

Your workflow in Glide
  1. DocsAutomatorPosts signedPdfUrl, the signers and their values to your webhook URL.
  2. 1. Webhook TriggerA Glide workflow starts when the message arrives.
  3. 2. Query JSONReads signedPdfUrl and the row ID you sent with the request.
  4. 3. Set Column ValuesSaves the link in the job's Signed work order column.

DocsAutomator does not write into Glide itself. Webhook triggered workflows need a current paid Glide plan. Continue only when signedPdfUrl is present, because the webhook also receives the other signing events.

What to check in an e-signature tool for Glide apps

Seven questions to ask before you pick one.

  • Signers from your app. The signer's email should be a value your app sends, not typed again for each job.
  • Signing on a phone. Customers on site sign from an email on their own phone, with nothing to install.
  • The signed PDF where you work. Each signed work order filed for the office automatically.
  • Templates your team can edit. Google Docs, Word or PDF, so the people who own the wording keep editing it.
  • Signing and acceptance. A contract needs a signature. A quote often needs only a yes.
  • Price per person or per signature. Check whether each team member needs a paid seat, and whether signing costs extra on top of the plan.
  • Proof on every PDF. A certificate and an audit trail that record who signed, when and from where.
